Story details

SOCAR, Serbia’s state power company Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) and Srbijagas signed a shareholders’ agreement in Belgrade on 1 October covering a proposed combined-cycle gas-fired plant in Niš. The agreement envisages 500 megawatts of capacity and a joint venture, with the Serbian companies together holding 50% and the Azerbaijani side holding the other 50%.

The document sets out the partners’ rights and duties, joint-management principles, unanimous approval of key decisions during preparation, and financing terms for project activities. SOCAR’s announcement identifies the agreement as a framework for the preparatory stage; it does not report construction progress or electricity output.

The 500 MW figure is planned capacity, not operating generation. The announcement does not provide a project budget or construction timetable, so the agreement alone does not establish when the plant could enter service.
