Story details
Qatar’s international reserves and foreign-currency liquidity totalled QAR 262.279 billion in September 2026, 0.46% above the QAR 261.061 billion recorded a year earlier, Qatar News Agency reported on 8 October, citing Qatar Central Bank data. The measure combines official reserves with other liquid foreign-currency assets.
Official reserves alone were QAR 223.447 billion at September’s end, up 10.85% year on year, or QAR 21.888 billion. Within the reported components, foreign bonds and treasury bills fell by QAR 44.599 billion to QAR 88.280 billion; gold holdings rose by QAR 4.378 billion to QAR 56.408 billion.
Balances held with foreign banks increased by QAR 62.153 billion to QAR 73.554 billion, while the IMF-related Special Drawing Rights deposits declined by QAR 45 million to QAR 5.203 billion. The total and official-reserve series are different measures, so the smaller rise in the combined total should not be read as the same movement as official reserves alone.
