Story details

Egypt’s petroleum minister met Cyprus’s energy minister in Athens on 7 October 2026 to review gas cooperation, the Egyptian ministry reported.

The discussion covered work to connect gas from Cyprus’s Cronos field with Egyptian infrastructure and arrangements for developing the Aphrodite field, also offshore Cyprus.

The ministry said the sides wanted to accelerate remaining work and agreements. It did not report gas flowing to Egypt, a completed pipeline or a final investment decision for Aphrodite.

The update is a project-status discussion. Construction, commercial approvals and operational start remain future milestones; no volumes, costs or timetable were supplied.
