Story details
Egypt and Greece discussed gas-sector cooperation at a meeting in Athens on 7 October 2026, according to Egypt’s Petroleum Ministry. The discussion involved the two countries’ energy ministers.
The ministry said they reviewed potential joint work in natural gas, petroleum and low-carbon energy, along with gas and liquefied natural gas trading and marketing. They also discussed links between East Mediterranean resources and European markets.
The release points to the existing EGAS partnership with Greece’s Copelouzos Group as a basis for developing gas trading in the Greek market. It describes an intended commercial pathway, not an operating export stream.
Greece’s infrastructure was presented as a possible gateway to Central and Eastern Europe. The report gives no contracted volumes, delivery date or completed infrastructure project.
