Story details

Jordan Industrial Estates Company (JIEC) and German-Jordanian University (GJU) signed a memorandum of understanding on 7 October to develop an “Industrial District” concept. Petra reported that the proposed site would bring the university, laboratories, pilot factories and technology companies together in one location. The announcement describes an agreed concept and cooperation framework; it does not report a completed site, construction schedule, investment amount or operating facilities.

The partners identified smart cities, digital transformation, energy, sustainability, industrial innovation, technology transfer, talent development and applied research as areas for cooperation. The MoU also envisages technical work drawing on artificial intelligence, data analytics, internet-of-things systems and drones, alongside vocational training, workshops and student projects. The stated aims include improving industrial energy efficiency and reducing emissions, but Petra reported no measured savings or delivered results.
