Story details
On 8 October, Russia’s System Operator reported that it had presented relay-protection and emergency-control technology at a conference in Tobolsk. The operator said its unified information model contains more than 165,000 relay-protection devices and over 450,000 device functions. The presentation proposed using CIM XML data exchange and analysis under Russian standard GOST R 58651 to support synchronised information and automated reporting.
A separate solution using GOOSE messaging was described as allowing discrete signals to travel beyond local substation networks over existing communications. The operator said faster control signals could help minimise the volume of disconnected generation and consumers, while reducing the cost of implementing emergency-control automation. The release reports a presentation and potential capabilities; it does not say the proposed data workflow or system-wide results have been deployed or measured.
