Story details

Dubai’s Higher Committee for the Development of the Economic and Financial Sector reviewed gold-market figures and proposed strategy directions at an October 8 meeting, according to the Dubai Protocol Department. The release says Dubai’s foreign gold trade reached approximately AED1 trillion in 2025, 60% above 2024.

The same source puts physical gold trading across the UAE at around 2,750 tonnes and estimates that 13–15% of globally traded gold passes through Dubai each year. These are trading-flow measures, not estimates of gold mined in the UAE, local reserves or gold held in storage.

The proposed strategy spans trade, financing, storage, traceability, price discovery and jewellery demand. The committee approved establishing a separate group to develop initiatives and an implementation roadmap, including roles, partners and governance. The release does not announce new trading rules, targets or deadlines.

The government source provides no statistical method, source-by-source breakdown or comparison series beyond the stated annual increase. The figures are therefore official reported indicators, not independently audited production or transaction data; the strategy details describe planning rather than completed changes to the market.
