Story details

Dubai CommerCity and the Global Commerce Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding on 7 October, according to WAM. The agreement was signed at Dubai CommerCity’s headquarters during Ai Everything Abu Dhabi 2026. CommerCity is part of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority and describes itself as a free zone dedicated to digital commerce.

The MoU establishes a framework to explore agentic AI in digital, cross-border and collaborative commerce. WAM lists applied research, proof-of-concept projects, technology demonstrations, market studies and business cases among the potential areas, alongside training, mentorship and innovation programmes. The announcement does not identify a funded project, named customer deployment or commercial target.

The Foundation said the partners intend to hold the Global Finale of its Tetrix Agentic World League in Dubai in 2027 during Dubai AI Week. That is a future event goal within the partnership’s first year, not evidence that an agentic commerce system has been built or adopted. The MoU also does not specify a budget, software vendor or performance benchmark.

The proposed work could connect Dubai’s digital-commerce businesses with international research and practitioner networks, while testing whether autonomous agents can complete defined business tasks across markets. Any productivity or market-access benefit remains prospective. Evidence would require published pilot scope, transaction safeguards, human approval boundaries, cross-border data rules and measured results from participating firms.
