Story details

Jordan’s Cabinet approved incentives and exemptions for automobile manufacturing and assembly in the Zarqa Development Zone, linked to investment size, local manufacturing and jobs for Jordanians. In an Oct. 8 report, Petra quoted Amman Chamber of Industry President Fathi Jaghbir as saying the package could help broaden the country’s industrial base and attract high-value investment.

Jaghbir said automotive investment could connect local engineering, electrical, metal, plastics, rubber and chemical industries to supply chains. Vehicle and component exports were also described as a potential benefit; the report did not announce realized production, investment or export results. It said incentives could cover energy costs, land, logistics services and taxation.
