Story details

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium said its Tengiz–Novorossiysk oil pipeline returned to operation on 6 October after a planned 12-hour shutdown. In a statement published on 8 October, CPC said the stoppage was used for scheduled maintenance on systems along the main pipeline, pumping stations and the Marine Terminal.

The listed work included pipeline repairs and inspections in Kazakhstan and Russia, equipment replacement at pumping stations, and work on the terminal’s supervisory control system. CPC describes the route as 1,511 km long and says it carries more than two-thirds of Kazakhstan’s oil exports as well as crude from Russian fields. The statement does not quantify any shipment or throughput impact from the shutdown.
