Story details

The Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) held a technical workshop on Oct. 8 to review detailed design criteria for rehabilitating about 52 kilometers of the northern section of the King Abdullah Canal. Petra reported that the project is funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through KfW Development Bank.

Planned work includes relining parts of the canal and rehabilitating related infrastructure, with the stated aims of reducing leakage and improving water conveyance reliability. The report does not describe construction as completed and gives no estimate of water savings or project budget. The authority said water-user associations and other stakeholders took part in the design discussions.
