Story details

The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) board reviewed regulatory developments and initiatives on operational efficiency and national capabilities, WAM reported from Abu Dhabi on 6 October. The director-general briefed members on regulatory operations, customer experience, international engagement and the launch of the UAE’s first National Environmental Radiation Measurements Portal.

The board also received an update on the operations of Barakah Nuclear Power Plant’s four units and planned activities; the report gives no unit-by-unit output or generation figures. FANR described research in nuclear safety, radiation protection and environmental studies, and a transformation programme applying agentic AI to services and regulatory work under governance, security and human oversight. The review itself does not commission a plant or establish a measured operational result.
