Story details
Rostec reported on 9 October that the Additive Technology Center, part of the United Engine Corporation, had proposed using a shared evidence base when certifying different gas-turbine engine parts made from the same material. The proposal would use test results from a sample part as a basis for other parts when equipment and printing parameters are held to common requirements.
The center says this could reduce repeated full test programmes, which currently assess material properties and the ability to reproduce a part consistently in series production. The proposal does not remove testing requirements for all parts: the release says stricter requirements remain for main and specially safety-critical components. It reports no approval, quantified time or cost savings, or change to certification rules.
