Story details

Statistics Norway (SSB) updated its Price Index of First-Hand Domestic Sales on 9 October with September figures. The total index stood at 143.3 on a 2021=100 basis, 1.8% above August and 8.2% above September 2025.

The measure covers first-hand sales of goods to the Norwegian market, including domestically produced goods sold at home and imported goods. It therefore tracks a broader market basket than prices of Norwegian-made products alone.

Food prices in the index fell 0.5% in the month but were 4.8% higher than a year earlier. Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials increased 11.1% monthly and 69.9% annually, illustrating the different paths across product groups.

These are observed price-index changes, not a forecast or a quote for a particular transaction. SSB uses the series as a short-term indicator of prices entering the Norwegian market; the index does not show the exact bill paid by each buyer.
