Story details
Statistics Norway published preliminary September reserve figures on behalf of Norges Bank on 7 October. Official reserve assets were NOK 856,582 million, compared with NOK 847,308 million in August.
Foreign-currency reserves accounted for NOK 697,016 million. The table also listed a reserve position at the IMF of NOK 12,757 million and special drawing rights (SDRs) of NOK 71,656 million.
These figures are market values reported in NOK million under the international-reserves framework. The preliminary September total differs slightly from the separate table of finalized reserve assets, which is updated after the following month’s 21st.
The monthly release supports the central bank’s reporting under the IMF’s Special Data Dissemination Standard. It describes reserve assets at the reporting date, not a forecast of currency-market movements or a measure of government petroleum-fund assets.
