Story details

Statistics Norway reported that the seasonally adjusted production volume across covered service activities rose 1.2% in August from July. The calendar-adjusted index was 5.8% above August 2025.

For transport and storage, production increased 0.8% month on month and 7.4% year on year. The figures refer to service output volume, rather than the sales value measured by the separate turnover index.

The monthly comparison is seasonally adjusted, while the annual comparison accounts for calendar effects. Those adjustments help compare periods but do not change the underlying distinction between volume and turnover.

Updated on 6 October, the series provides observed activity indicators for August. It is not a forecast, and the broad service total does not imply that every service industry moved in the same way. The series covers market-oriented services, not every activity in the wider economy.
