Story details

Jordan’s Investor Confidence Index, issued by the Jordan Strategy Forum, rose 21.9% in the second quarter of 2026 to 186.6 points, up from 153.1 in the first quarter. Petra reported the figures on October 5 alongside measures of economic activity, public finances and investment. The index is a forum indicator and should be distinguished from the official national accounts and monetary statistics also cited in the report.

The Economic Activity Confidence Index climbed 74.3% to 200 points from 114.7 in Q1, its highest quarterly reading in three years, according to the forum. The same account reported second-quarter real GDP growth of 3%, a budget deficit after grants of about JD557 million and foreign direct investment inflows of approximately JD458 million. Each measure has its own source and methodology.

The figures provide several views of the quarter rather than a single measure of investor behavior. The confidence index and its subindex are points-based indicators; GDP growth is a rate, while the deficit and FDI are monetary amounts. Petra also reported the Amman Stock Exchange index at 7,517 points, up from 7,212 in Q1.

The report does not publish the index construction or respondent sample, so the change should be read as the forum’s measured confidence signal rather than a direct count of new investments. The FDI figure is attributed to the report and is not a forecast. Comparisons with Q1 and the year-earlier GDP rate refer to different baselines.
