Rete Ferroviaria Italiana said a technical issue on the electrical line supplying trains halted rail traffic between Pisciotta and Sapri on the Salerno–Paola route from 05:00 on 10 October. In its 06:00 update, RFI said technicians were working and train services were being rescheduled. At 07:40, the suspension was still in place.
By 09:00, RFI reported that trains were moving again but with delays of up to 90 minutes, cancellations and timetable changes; replacement buses were activated. Its 12:30 and 17:30 updates said service remained slowed, with delays of up to 30 minutes, changes and cancellations, and buses still in operation. The report concerns rail traction supply on this route and does not describe a wider electricity-grid outage.
