Story details
Abbanoa said on 10 October that it would activate the new Monte Elva–Stintino pressure main on Tuesday, 13 October. The pipeline forms part of water-network upgrades in Stintino and is intended to serve the town centre, the tourist area, the surrounding countryside and Pozzo San Nicola. The company said the works were carried out with the municipality and aimed to address problems with the former aqueduct, built in the 1970s.
The reported investment was nearly €200,000 from Abbanoa’s own budget. The work also included new regulation and remote-monitoring equipment. For the connection, Abbanoa plans to empty the supply main: reservoirs are expected to cover the town centre, although local pressure drops or temporary interruptions could occur there from 09:00 to 12:30 on 14 October. In the countryside and Pozzo San Nicola, pressure drops or interruptions are forecast from 11:00 on 13 October to 10:00 on 14 October. The company said water could be temporarily cloudy as pipes refill.
