Story details

Rio de Janeiro’s CET-Rio said in a notice published at 09:16 on 10 October that a new access from Avenida Brasil to the Presidente Dutra Highway (BR-116) was scheduled to open to vehicles at 14:30 that day. The ramp starts on the avenue’s central carriageway in the direction of Centro, crosses over its lateral carriageway and connects to the Trevo das Margaridas junction.

The city described the connection as a more direct link between two road and logistics corridors serving Rio and its metropolitan area. The existing access from Avenida Brasil’s lateral carriageway was to remain in service. CET-Rio and concessionaire Ecovias Rio Minas were expected to monitor traffic and guide drivers during the release; the notice provides no measured travel-time or traffic-flow results and contains no later confirmation of the opening.
