Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) reported a technical line fault near Bitetto that slowed traffic on the Bari–Taranto route from 06:30 on 10 October. Its early notice cited delays of up to 50 minutes, timetable changes and cancellations; later updates recorded delays reaching 90 minutes by 08:00 and 120 minutes by 09:00.
RFI continued to report disruption at midday, then said at 16:00 that delays were up to 30 minutes. In its 18:00 update, the operator said traffic had returned to normal, while reporting that delays during the incident had reached 120 minutes as well as service changes and cancellations. The notice does not specify the technical cause.
