Egypt reports 28 pumping stations in New Delta irrigation system
An SIS report dated 10 October describes an ongoing New Delta water system with 28 stations and 1,780 pumps, designed to move irrigation water across land at different elevations.
The Egypt State Information Service (SIS) reported on 10 October that the Future of Egypt Authority is implementing an integrated water-pumping system for the New Delta. The report says differences in land elevation create engineering challenges for delivering irrigation water, so the system is designed to lift and move water through the project network to reclamation areas.
SIS lists 28 major pumping stations and 1,780 pumps in total. It describes the system as supporting water delivery and irrigation efficiency, with agricultural expansion as an intended benefit. The report does not provide commissioning dates, water volumes, station locations, costs or measured efficiency gains. SIS says the Authority’s cited social-media statement was posted on 9 October, a day before the SIS report.
