Story details
Afghanistan’s Minister of Mines and Petroleum Hedayatullah Badri signed a memorandum of understanding with Fine Star Group and Azra Green Stone Mining and Processing Companies on October 1, the ministry reported. The MOU concerns investment in relocating and installing a standard lead and zinc processing plant. The ministry page carrying the report was posted September 30.
At the signing, Badri said the ministry was ready to facilitate investors in mineral extraction and processing and in establishing related plants. He also said it supports private-sector mineral processing and expanded investment. The announcement does not give the plant’s location, capacity, investment amount, construction schedule or the commitments of each company.
Company representatives said they would implement the MOU commitments. The announcement describes an investment agreement for relocation and installation; it does not confirm the plant has moved, construction has begun or a final operating permit has been issued. It records an investment intention, not completed industrial capacity.
