Story details

Petrobras’s 30 September release says preventive Codajás measures began in the second half of September as river levels showed a downward trend. The annual September–December operation addresses navigation restrictions and fuel supply, particularly liquefied petroleum gas, in northern Brazil.

The plan provides two dedicated gas carriers alongside other vessels. Epic Baluan is to be positioned at Coari as extended storage, complementing regional terminals. These are logistics arrangements to sustain deliveries and the movement of oil and gas from Urucu, not a new well or additional production capacity.

According to Petrobras, natural gas produced in the region supplies more than 50% of electricity generation in Amazonas state. This is a state generation share, not installed capacity or Brazil’s national share. The release does not provide a current Urucu production rate or storage volume.
