Story details

Equinor Brasil announced on 7 October 2026 that it secured Rubi and Rodocrosita in the fourth cycle of Brazil’s permanent production-sharing offering. Both areas are in the Santos Basin; Rodocrosita is near Bacalhau infrastructure.

Equinor will operate Rubi with a 100% interest, and Rodocrosita with 70%, alongside Galp’s 30%. Its bids offered the Union profit-oil shares of 25.02% and 15.52%, respectively. Those bid percentages describe a different allocation from the partners’ working interests.

The company describes potential infrastructure synergies and an early-stage standalone development possibility for Rubi, subject to further analysis. Licence awards create exploration opportunities; they do not demonstrate that a well has been drilled, hydrocarbons discovered or a project sanctioned.
