Story details
Brazil announced a temporary fuel package on 9 September as oil-market volatility and supply limits raised domestic costs. Federal PIS/Pasep and Cofins charges on gasoline were reduced by R$0.63 per litre, while the two contributions on hydrated ethanol were set to zero, a R$0.19-per-litre tax reduction.
The changes apply through 9 October. A separate measure authorises a temporary R$1-per-litre subsidy for road diesel producers and importers in the first period; the Finance Ministry may adjust or end it as conditions and budget availability change.
