Story details

The Government of Canada’s 2026 pre-budget consultations closed on 8 September, ending the online questionnaire and long-form submission process. The Department of Finance says the consultations opened on 6 July to collect Canadians’ ideas and priorities for Budget 2026.

The department will review the submissions to help inform the budget. The closure notice does not report the number of responses or promise that any particular proposal will be adopted; it marks the end of the formal consultation period.
