Story details
Statistics Canada’s Industrial Product Price Index rose 1.3% in August 2026 from July and was 13.5% higher than a year earlier. The Raw Materials Price Index increased 3.1% on the month and 22.8% year over year.
Energy and petroleum products were the main contributor to the industrial-product index’s monthly rise. The raw-material increase was led by crude energy products. Both indexes are not seasonally adjusted and track prices received by Canadian producers or paid for materials.
