Statistics Canada released the 2025 Oil and Gas Extraction Survey on 24 September 2026. Its tables 25-10-0064-01 and 25-10-0065-01 cover capital spending and expenses, and revenues, expenses and balance sheets respectively. The reference year is 2025; publication in September 2026 does not make these current-month operating results.
The survey distinguishes oil and gas extraction from oil sands extraction. Establishment-level financial aggregates cannot be allocated to a particular well without additional evidence. The agency says the annual data use respondent and administrative information, are subject to revision and are not seasonally adjusted. Comparisons should therefore preserve industry definitions, accounting periods and release vintage.
