Story details

Desert Minerals reported on 28 October that all five holes in a reverse circulation programme at the Providence prospect had intersected gold mineralisation above 0.5 grams per tonne. Providence is part of the Mt Monger gold project, approximately 45 kilometres southeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

Reported results include two metres at 9.7 g/t from 52 metres in 26MNRC0039 and five metres at 6.4 g/t from 113 metres in 26MNRC0041. The latter interval includes one metre at 28.2 g/t. Hole 26MNRC0042 returned three metres at 7.0 g/t from 107 metres and a separate three metres at 4.6 g/t from 134 metres.

The company associates high-grade gold with quartz veining. Shallow intersections around 50 metres in holes 26MNRC0039–41 are interpreted as a new mineralised structure northwest of the previously known Providence mineralisation. The structure remains open in that direction, requiring further drilling to establish its extent and continuity.

Providence’s existing inferred mineral resource is 204,700 tonnes at 2.5 g/t for 16,400 ounces. The new assays are separate evidence to inform future assessment; the announcement does not establish a revised resource or an ore reserve. Desert Minerals also noted other prospects, including Divine and Hoffmann, as exploration opportunities while it continues work across Mt Monger and its wider portfolio.
