The first Dubai Environment Conference and Exhibition (DECE) opened at Grand Hyatt Dubai on 7 September. Organised by the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority, the event ran on 7–8 September under the theme “Protecting Our Environment… Securing Our Future.”
Its programme covered six themes: biodiversity, natural resources, food security, climate change, the circular economy and environmental artificial intelligence.
Egyptian battery maker BME and China’s CATL signed a contract on September 13 to establish a battery systems plant. The first phase is planned for annual capacity of 1 gigawatt-hour and investment above EGP 2 billion, reported by SIS as about US$39 million.
A September 6 Cabinet research bulletin said supply-chain resilience, energy and technology security and reduced dependence on single sources are increasingly shaping trade and investment. It highlighted local value added as a measure beyond export growth.
