Industry Minister Khaled Hashem met a European Bank for Reconstruction and Development delegation on September 13 to discuss cooperation on industry, green economy, water efficiency and small businesses. The meeting covered support for private-sector competitiveness and Egypt’s plan to raise renewables to 45% of the energy mix by 2028.
Officials said Egypt was among seven countries selected for up to €250 million in concessional financing through the Climate Investment Funds. Hashem discussed factory solar initiatives, energy and water-efficiency systems, and talks with the EBRD on infrastructure financing for industrial zones lacking adequate services. The €250 million is a program ceiling for Egypt, not an award to one named project.
