Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed current and future renewable projects with Electricity Minister Mahmoud Esmat on September 10. The national strategy aims to raise the renewable share of Egypt’s energy mix to 45% by 2028. The ministry described solar as the largest renewable component, with wind contributing to the grid and hydropower remaining a stable source.

The minister reported about 1,100 megawatt-hours of energy-storage capacity and reviewed generation and battery projects that are completed, underway or scheduled for near-term operation. He also discussed grid improvements made for summer 2026, green hydrogen and desalination projects.
