Story details
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed desalination projects and industrial localization on September 1 with housing officials and Elsewedy Electric representatives. The government said it had received international offers and was prepared to conclude agreements with serious bidders, particularly proposals that include localizing related industries.
Housing Minister Randa El-Menshawy said the national strategy runs through 2050 and will be delivered in successive five-year plans. It targets about 9 million cubic metres of desalinated water a day. Elsewedy executives said they were working to raise locally manufactured components to 60%–70%; talks with manufacturers were under way, and a factory agreement remained planned.
