Story details

The value of EU energy product imports rose by 39.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, according to the report dated 22 September. Net mass increased by 0.4% over the same comparison.

Eurostat identifies higher prices as the main driver of the value increase. Import expenditure and physical quantities are different measures; higher value does not imply that energy purchases expanded by the same proportion.
