Story details
First Lithium Minerals Corp. announced assay results from its summer geological prospecting and channel sampling program at the 100 percent owned Senepas lithium project, situated in the Patricia Mining Division of northwestern Ontario. Field geologists identified and sampled a major pegmatite dyke swarm outcropping along a five-kilometer structural corridor. Channel samples across exposed pegmatite outcrops returned continuous high-grade intervals, including 8.5 meters grading 1.82 percent lithium oxide (Li2O) and 12.0 meters grading 1.45 percent Li2O, hosted within coarse-grained spodumene crystals up to 30 centimeters in length.
The Senepas property lies approximately 30 kilometers northwest of the Root Lake lithium pegmatite deposit and benefits from excellent logistics, including direct gravel road access connecting to the provincial highway network and proximity to high-voltage hydroelectric transmission lines. Mineralogical thin-section analysis and X-ray diffraction tests confirm that lithium mineralization is hosted exclusively within primary crystalline spodumene with negligible lepidolite or petalite fractions, representing optimal metallurgy for standard dense media separation and flotation concentration circuits.
High-resolution drone LiDAR topography and airborne magnetics completed over the claim block delineated multiple parallel structural lineaments extending beneath glacial overburden. The company has finalized environmental baseline assessments and submitted exploration permit applications to the Ontario Ministry of Mines for a planned 4,000-meter inaugural diamond drilling program. Dialogue and consultation protocols have been formally initiated with the Lac Seul First Nation and Slate Falls First Nation communities.
Corporate leadership highlighted that northwestern Ontario is rapidly evolving into a premier North American hub for critical battery minerals, supported by federal and provincial critical mineral infrastructure funds and planned regional lithium conversion refineries in Thunder Bay. Developing low-cost, high-grade hard-rock spodumene assets within secure Canadian jurisdictions is essential for ensuring allied electric vehicle battery supply chain resilience. First Lithium Minerals expects drill permits to be granted ahead of winter drill mobilization in January 2027.
