Story details
Foremost Clean Energy Ltd. announced the formal commencement of its inaugural diamond drilling campaign at the Turkey Lake Uranium Project, situated in the Athabasca Basin region of northern Saskatchewan. The exploration programme is planned to execute approximately 1,000 metres of core drilling designed to evaluate high-priority subsurface targets. The initiation of active field operations marks the first modern diamond drilling testing on this property, aiming to detect unconformity-related and basement-hosted uranium mineralisation along prospective structural trends.
Drill targets were identified and refined through a technical synthesis of historical exploration records and recent geophysical datasets. Exploration teams integrated results from a ground gravity survey completed in January 2026 with archival electromagnetic surveys, magnetic maps and geological datasets previously compiled by Denison Mines. The combined geophysical interpretation identified distinct gravity-low anomalies coincident with structural faulting and electromagnetic conductors, representing classic geological indicators for hydrothermal alteration zones associated with high-grade Athabasca uranium deposits.
A primary operational advantage of the Turkey Lake property is its favourable stratigraphic position and shallow cover sequence. The mineral claims encompass more than 10 kilometres of prospective conductive strike length where Athabasca sandstone cover is relatively thin, measuring less than 50 metres in thickness across the priority drilling areas. This shallow depth profile significantly reduces drilling time and exploratory cost per target, enabling the technical team to test multiple structural targets across basement lithologies with efficient meterage allocations.
Field operations are supported by established logistics infrastructure in northern Saskatchewan, including all-weather access roads and regional staging hubs. Core recovery will be monitored using downhole radiometric probes, and mineralised intervals will be systematically sampled for multi-element geochemical assays at certified commercial analytical laboratories. Foremost plans to provide sequential operational updates and drill results as core logging, radiometric scanning and certified laboratory analytical data are finalised during the fourth quarter of 2026.
