Nexans selected for Mallorca–Menorca power cable project
Red Eléctrica chose Nexans as preferred supplier for a 132 kV link between the Balearic islands; a six-month engineering phase is to precede any EPCI contract.
Nexans said on 22 October that Red Eléctrica, the Spanish grid operator owned by Redeia, selected it as preferred supplier for the Mallorca–Menorca 3 interconnection. The proposed 132 kV HVAC system would combine subsea and land cables.
The tender terms provide for a six-month collaborative engineering phase to lay the groundwork for a later engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract. Nexans described delivery as planned to start in mid-2027. The selection is not a signed EPCI contract or completed cable delivery; the project is in Spain, although Nexans is a French issuer.
The semiconductor maker said it repurchased 492,285 ordinary shares, equal to 0.05% of its issued capital, during 12–16 October under its employee and management share-obligation programme.
