Story details

GE Vernova announced on 28 October that it had signed an agreement to acquire Trench Group from Triton Partners for US$9 billion equivalent. The purchase would bring an existing supplier of high-voltage components into GE Vernova’s Electrification business. Signing the agreement is separate from completion and transfer of ownership.

Trench supplies bushings, instrument transformers and coils, serving more than 800 utilities and large customers. Its manufacturing footprint comprises eleven sites across Europe, North America and Asia, with more than 3,000 employees. The transaction is intended to expand manufacturing capacity and strengthen supply of grid components.

GE Vernova currently expects to fund the price equally with cash and debt. Closing is targeted for late 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and legally required employee-representative consultations. U.S. dollar equivalents in the announcement use an assumed euro-dollar rate of 1.12; the final equivalent can differ at the applicable exchange rate.

The release forecasts Trench revenue of US$1.9 billion and an adjusted EBITDA margin of approximately 36% in 2028. These are projections for the standalone business, excluding expected synergies, rather than achieved results. Integration benefits, financing and the acquisition timetable remain forward-looking elements of the proposed transaction.
