Story details

Generac reported on 28 October record third-quarter net sales of approximately US$1.29 billion, up 16% from US$1.11 billion a year earlier. The energy equipment company attributed about one percentage point of sales growth to the combined effect of acquisitions, divestitures and foreign currency.

External commercial and industrial sales rose approximately 28% to US$552 million, while residential external sales increased about 9% to US$743 million. Net income attributable to Generac was US$109 million, or US$1.83 per share. Adjusted net income was US$151 million, or US$2.54 per share; that adjusted figure is a non-GAAP measure distinct from reported net income.

The company said its data-centre product backlog had reached approximately US$4.5 billion. This includes an earlier-announced Amazon supply agreement with initial deliveries expected to total US$2.4 billion during 2027 and 2028. A backlog and expected deliveries describe future business rather than revenue already recognised in the September quarter.

Generac maintained its full-year sales growth guidance in the mid-to-high teens percentage range. It raised the lower end of its adjusted EBITDA margin outlook to 20.5%, leaving the upper end at 21.0%. The adjusted profitability measure requires the company’s reconciliation, and the annual outlook remains subject to execution, demand and other stated risks.
