Jordan’s date industry has attracted more than US$500 million in investment and exports about 65% of production, Jordan Dates Association chair Anwar Haddad said at an economic forum, according to Petra. Annual production exceeds 37,000 tonnes from about one million palms across more than 700 farms.

Haddad estimated current annual exports at JD60 million; the sector projects them to reach JD150 million as new plantings enter full production. The industry provides more than 10,000 jobs, over 40% held by women, and has 15 processing and packing facilities with combined annual capacity of 20,000 tonnes.
