Story details
Nexus Gold announced on 28 October that it had submitted eight mineral concession applications covering approximately 14,151 hectares in Colombia’s South Bolívar district. The areas lie approximately eight kilometres northwest of Santa Rosa del Sur. Applications remain subject to review by the National Mining Agency and are not granted concessions or mineral titles already held by Nexus.
The company is targeting structurally controlled gold systems in the Serranía de San Lucas region. Its interpretation draws on regional geology and historical artisanal workings. Nexus said it had identified no evidence of historical systematic drilling within the application areas based on the information reviewed to date.
Subject to approvals, initial work would compile historical data, map geological structures and artisanal workings, and undertake rock and soil sampling. Geophysics and possible diamond-drill targets would follow where warranted. This staged sequence is a proposed exploration approach, rather than a drilling campaign already authorised and completed.
The release cites a nearby historical mine as a regional analogue, but cautions that its old sampling has not been independently verified and does not establish mineralisation within the application areas. The immediate milestone is regulatory review of the applications. Any future resource definition depends on access, permits, fieldwork and independently supported technical results.
