Story details

Anambra State officials used a World Food Day event to link food security with environmental health, calling for responsible waste handling and attention to land and water conditions. The state government report was published October 17.

Environment Commissioner Clem Aguiyi said the state has more than 1,200 active gully-erosion sites and generates more than 1,500 tonnes of solid waste daily. He called for waste composting, erosion repair and climate-resilient farming; the figures are official statements, not independently measured results.
