Story details

Rivers State’s agriculture ministry urged farmers and sector partners to adopt innovative methods, modern farming techniques and partnerships at a World Food Day event in Port Harcourt. The state report, dated October 17, described the event as a call to action for productivity and a sustainable food supply.

The ministry cited capacity building, input distribution, youth participation, extension services, fisheries and aquaculture as areas of work. A women-in-agribusiness representative described a proposed partnership with the Bank of Agriculture for smallholder value-chain financing and training 1,000 women in rice cultivation. These were commitments and plans, not completed outcomes.
