Story details
NNPC Retail commissioned its first Smart Self-Service Station on Bill Clinton Drive in Abuja on 10 September 2026. The NNPC subsidiary developed the site in partnership with the Nigeria Immigration Service, which provided the land. The company says its 24-hour system lets customers choose fuel volumes and pay without staff handling the transaction.
The facility has 16 petrol pumps and two diesel pumps, with storage capacity of 180,000 litres of petrol and 5,000 litres of diesel. NNPC also lists an electric-vehicle charging facility with 86-point capacity, an LPG dispenser, lubricant service bay and automated car wash. CNG equipment is planned for a future installation, so it is not reported as operating yet.
NNPC’s release states that the station has more than 200 kilowatt-hours of installed solar capacity. The release uses an energy unit for a figure it describes as capacity, so this article preserves its wording rather than converting it. The site also includes retail and food-service space. NNPC said it intends to expand the model across Nigeria; the opening documents one station and does not establish that a nationwide rollout has already occurred.
