Story details

Nova Minerals announced on 28 October that Alaska’s Department of Natural Resources had issued final approvals for the Plan of Operations and Reclamation Plan for its antimony project. The company said this completed the required permitting process and allowed construction and development activities to move forward. Production remains targeted for 2027 rather than already under way.

The approvals cover an integrated development route: stibnite mining at the Styx and Stibium prospects, sorting and processing at the Whiskey Bravo concentration site within Estelle, and downstream processing and refining at Port Mackenzie. The initial authorisation term is three years, according to the company’s release.

Phase one is supported by an existing US$43.4 million federal funding award. Nova said major long-lead mining and processing equipment had been procured and delivered to project locations. Process plant engineering and metallurgical testing have also been completed, supporting a flowsheet designed for antimony trisulfide and grade II antimony metal above 99.65% purity.

The remaining focus is construction and execution of the development schedule. Completed permits, equipment delivery and engineering reduce specific development uncertainties, but do not themselves establish successful commissioning, sustained output or operating economics. The announced 2027 target should continue to be treated as a forward-looking project timetable.
