Story details
PETRONAS announced an Estuary Cluster production-sharing contract award to Harvester Energy (Malaysia) and a separate seismic-data handover for Mutiara. The release was published on September 11 with a September 9 Kuala Lumpur dateline. Malaysia Petroleum Management awarded the Estuary contract under its Small Field Asset framework.
Estuary comprises Lerek, Korbu and Diwangsa in the Malay Basin offshore Peninsular Malaysia. Its proposed development uses a shallow-water subsea approach intended to bring stranded marginal oil resources into production. Expected cost and timing improvements are development objectives, rather than measured operating results.
Separately, DIALOG Resources received enhanced 3D seismic data for the five-field Mutiara Cluster off eastern Sabah. PETRONAS says the imaging will support resource evaluation in the Sandakan Basin. Mutiara's first production is targeted for 2029; the data handover itself does not establish production or a new discovery.
