Story details
Radius Gold updated preparations for its Tierra Roja copper project in southern Peru on 28 October. Local contractors have begun preparing access, drill pads and an on-site camp. The company expects this work to take approximately two weeks, followed by mobilization of its contracted drilling company.
The initial campaign is planned at approximately 3,000 metres and aims to test mineralisation to depths of about 500 metres. Drilling is expected to start in mid-November 2026. The announced metres are a programme target, while the depth figure describes intended testing rather than an intersection already measured.
Radius said its president, Luke Longridge, and country manager Pedro Garcia would oversee planning and execution following Alejandro Ly’s departure as vice-president of exploration. The geological team in Peru is continuing surface sampling and detailed drill planning. The announcement reports preparations and a management change, without presenting new drill assays.
The company is prioritising an efficient first campaign because La Niña conditions could disrupt access if work extends into the rainy season. A larger follow-up campaign is planned for early 2027 after the rains and receipt of initial assays. Both stages remain forward-looking schedules dependent on field conditions and results.
