Story details
Renewables accounted for 54.1% of EU electricity generation in the second quarter of 2026, according to the 18 September release. The share was 54.3% a year earlier.
Within renewable output, solar supplied 41.6%, wind 27.7% and hydro 22.6%. Those shares use renewable generation as their denominator, rather than all electricity; generation shares also differ from consumption shares.
