Story details

The Republic of Congo’s hydrocarbons minister, Stev Simplice Onanga, inaugurated the country’s first liquefied-natural-gas vehicle-fuel station in Pointe-Noire on 19 September 2026, according to the state news agency ACI. The station was developed by Southerpec Group and its Wing Wah and SCI subsidiaries. ACI published its report on 24 September.

The 6,560-square-metre site sits near the exit for heavy vehicles from the Port of Pointe-Noire. Its reported storage capacities are 120 cubic metres of LNG fuel, 120 cubic metres of diesel and 40 cubic metres of petrol. ACI says the station has 16 dispensing nozzles and can serve 14 vehicles at once, with LNG refuelling taking under four minutes.

The hydrocarbons minister said the company planned further stations in Dolisie, Brazzaville and Oyo. Southerpec’s chairman described the facility as the start of domestic deliveries of finished LNG fuel made from Congolese gas. Those statements describe the announced network expansion and the company’s account of its product; they do not establish that the additional sites are already operating.
